Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.

There are 7 great abilities and fascinations that all children know but adults have long forgotten; They are that: animals can talk; your favorite blanket is woven from a fabric so mighty, that once pulled over your head, it becomes an impenetrable force field, nothing is too heavy to lift with the aid of a cape; your hand, held forefinger out and thumb up, actually fires bullets; jumping from any height with an umbrella is completely safe; monsters exist and can be both seen and done battle with; and the greatest, most special and regrettable loss of all: the ability to fly.

Tom Hanks narration, “The Radio Flyer”

Therein lies the secret behind Russell Westbrook genius, the seven great abilities and fascinations. While we mere mortals allow life to talk us out of believing in the things we held true as children, Russell apparently hasn’t. He understands that animals can talk.

Russell Westbrook has not lost the greatest ability of all, he can definitely fly.

Batman had his cave, Superman had his telephone booth, and Russ has his own super secrets to unlocking the 7 great abilities and fascinations:

A nap, a PB&J sandwich (lightly toasted with Skippy Peaunut Butter and Strawberry jelly, sliced diagonally), and the most important secret of all, staying true to himself and to his family.

Congratulations Russ. You’ve earned it.
